In addition, during the launch period, the Lynk & Co Z10 offered all-trim free upgrades to a 23-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, an active lifting rear wing, and RMB 3,000 charging coupons as initial sales benefits.

Before discussing the Z10 launched today, many readers may be more familiar with Lynk & Co’s concept car The Next Day. It made its debut at the Lynk & Co Spring/Summer Fashion Show on June 6, 2022, and quickly drew significant attention. Its unveiling marked the beginning of a new design language for the brand.

Prior to the launch of the Lynk & Co Z10, models such as the Lynk & Co 08 and Lynk & Co 07 had already adopted elements of The Next Day’s design language. However, while these vehicles inherited the aesthetic direction, their proportions did not fully capture the concept car’s essence. The Lynk & Co Z10, unveiled today, is the production model that most faithfully realizes the vision presented two years ago.

01How to Build a Lynk & Co Electric Flagship

Although the exterior of the Lynk & Co Z10 was revealed in June, its completely original design, sharp lines, and high fidelity to the concept car have sparked widespread discussion among Lynk & Co owners. User feedback indicates that this is indeed an excellent exterior design.

The Lynk & Co Z10 is positioned as a mid-to-large size pure electric sedan. Its dimensions are 5,028 mm in length, 1,966 mm in width, 1,468 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm. In terms of size, it is slightly larger than the recently popular Xiaomi SU7.

Given these length and height dimensions, designers can more easily achieve well-proportioned side profiles on the Lynk & Co Z10, staying as close as possible to the concept car's design.

On the Z10, the inheritance of The Next Day’s design language is primarily expressed through the front headlight assembly and the side character lines. These design elements have specific names: Dawn Light daytime running lights, Black Diamond Faceted Dome, and Fluid Sculpted Body. Together, these features give the Z10 a highly distinctive appearance, making it instantly recognizable as a stylish Lynk & Co vehicle from a distance.

Lynk & Co Z10 offers five exterior colors: Dawn Blue, Sunrise Red, Daylight Silver, Polar Night Black, and Fluid Gray. These shades are tuned primarily for a sporty aesthetic. We have previously seen the Fluid Gray and Sunrise Red in person; both effectively showcase the vehicle’s premium finish and dynamic character. Overall, the Z10’s exterior design feels almost class-defying. Judging solely by its looks and dimensions, it is hard to believe the starting price is only RMB 196,800.

Interestingly, despite using numerous sharp lines rather than relying heavily on smooth curves to reduce drag, the Lynk & Co Z10 achieves a coefficient of drag (Cd) of just 0.198. This places it among the most aerodynamic sedans on the market—a notable achievement.

Next, let’s examine how the Lynk & Co Z10 defines the brand’s flagship pure-electric standards through its battery, electric motor, and electronic control systems.

The Lynk & Co Z10 is available in five trims, differentiated mainly by motor configuration, autonomous driving capabilities, and voltage architecture. The 400 V platform includes three rear-wheel-drive variants: Pro, Max, and Smart Driving Max, which vary in equipment, battery capacity, and driver-assistance solutions. The 800 V platform features two models: Rear-Wheel-Drive Smart Driving Max and All-Wheel-Drive Smart Driving Ultra. Key configuration differences are detailed in the chart below.

In terms of battery capacity, the 400 V rear-wheel-drive Pro version is equipped with a 71 kWh Jinzhuandianchi, while all other versions come with a 95 kWh Jinzhuandianchi. This Jinzhuandianchi supports a charging rate of up to 4.5 C, and according to official data, adding 15 minutes of charging can increase the range by 573 km. Additionally, the Jinzhuandianchi ensures performance in low-temperature conditions and maintains high safety standards.

Regarding range, factors beyond battery capacity include the voltage platform and powertrain characteristics. In short, if your budget is limited and you have low range requirements, you can choose the rear-wheel-drive Pro 400 V version; for all other scenarios, it is recommended to go directly for the rear-wheel-drive Intelligent Driving Max 800 V version. This version includes almost all complete configurations and offers the longest range.

The top-spec trim across the lineup is the all-wheel-drive Intelligent Driving Ultra version. In addition to standard dual-chamber air suspension and CCD continuously variable damping electronically controlled shock absorbers, this trim also comes standard with a wide array of features, such as four-piston brake calipers, an active rear spoiler, iridescent RGB lighting clusters, and rear-seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Therefore, if your budget allows and you prefer not to study the differences between various configurations, blindly opting for the fully loaded Lynk & Co Z10 is certainly not a wrong choice.

02Driving Dynamics Still Lynk & Co

When it comes to pure electric vehicles, it is entirely expected that the Lynk & Co brand would adopt the Haohanpingtai platform. The platform's long-standing reputation for high quality largely ensures the chassis quality of the Lynk & Co Z10.

On the chassis, in addition to inheriting the excellent genes of Haohanpingtai, the Lynk & Co Z10 is also very solid in materials — the front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension structure, the top trim version comes standard with a combination of dual-chamber air suspension and CCD dampers, the dual-motor power output of 580 kW, the official acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour only needs 3.5 seconds.

In terms of performance, the Lynk & Co Z10 also delivers solid results, given the brand's own racing heritage and multiple championship titles. Performance optimizations on the Lynk & Co Z10 include a thermal management system with a maximum heat dissipation capacity of 25 kW for the battery, electric motor, and electronic control systems, enabling consistent acceleration performance without degradation over twelve consecutive runs. The vehicle also achieves a top speed of 252 km/h.

Regarding braking, the top-spec Lynk & Co Z10 comes standard with four-piston Continental calipers paired with Brembo brake discs, capable of 10 consecutive stops without fade, with an official 100 km/h to zero braking distance of just 34.31 meters.

During previous test drives, the chassis performance of the Lynk & Co Z10 AWD Intelligent Driving Ultra trim left a strong impression. Comfort is excellent; rather than completely isolating occupants from the outside world, it adopts a tuning style suited to sporty sedans, sharing a similar character with other models on the Haohanpingtai platform. Vibration damping is effective: high-frequency vibrations are well filtered, while low-frequency inputs retain some road feel. Longitudinal waves and pitch motions are also controlled adeptly. During spirited driving, roll and pitch control are outstanding, providing ample confidence behind the wheel.

In addition, the Lynk & Co Z10 is equipped with an active hidden rear wing. According to official information, the active hidden rear wing for the Lynk & Co Z10 was originally an optional configuration priced at 5,000 yuan, but it was available as a limited-time free option (0 yuan) before October 31.

As a sedan in the Lynk & Co lineup, the Z10 clearly inherits the brand’s handling capabilities and track heritage. In terms of materials, the top-tier trim is thoroughly equipped, while lower trims still show considerable sincerity. The tuning remains at the consistently high standard expected of the brand. However, we have not yet tested the driving experience of non-top-tier versions.

03How Smart Must It Be to Qualify as Flagship?

In cabin space design, the Lynk & Co Z10 introduces the Starship Smart Cabin concept.

The Lynk & Co Z10 employs a relatively straight design for both the dashboard and armrest to convey a futuristic, starship-like aesthetic. The color scheme and materials appear clean and well-layered. The CMF (Color, Material, Finish) design is also particular; for instance, rose-gold inlay strips are used on many details inside the cabin, and the seats are designed to be spacious. Overall, it is evident that the design blends sci-fi elements with a sense of refinement.

In terms of space, the Lynk & Co Z10 features a wheelbase of 3,005 mm. Even though compromises in rear-seat space are visible from the exterior, it still reaches the spatial level of luxury vehicles. Our actual experience confirms this: for a person who is one point eight meters tall, there remains more than two fists' worth of space behind the front seat.

In the pure electric vehicle segment, a trend has emerged that ties vehicles closely to intelligent features. In the Chinese market, it is rare to find a family-oriented EV that does not highlight its smart capabilities, and the Z10 is certainly no exception.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Z10 Intelligent Driving Edition adopts Geely Group's Lutesijiqirenfangan, which is currently one of the more successfully implemented solutions within the group. Since Lotus had already deployed highway and elevated-road NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) functionality in previous models, most of the intelligent driving capabilities for the Lynk & Co Z10 are delivered ready-to-use.

On the hardware side, for perception Lynk & Co adopted a solution featuring 1 LiDAR, 1 forward-facing 4D millimeter-wave radar, 4 3D millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras, along with one Orin-X autonomous driving chip, which is basically the mainstream hardware combination currently.

The features confirmed to be available upon delivery include automatic parking, highway and elevated road NOA, and a series of active safety functions. In our previous test drive experience, these have already reached a state where they are ready for use upon delivery. Additionally, by the end of the year, the Z10 will begin internal testing for city NOA supported by an end-to-end large model.

If the Lynk & Co Z10's intelligent driving is considered mainstream, then in another dimension of intelligence—the smart cockpit—it has reached new heights.

The Lynk & Co Z10 adopts the Flyme Auto system along with the Yikatongmakalujisuanpingtai solution. While Flyme Auto is no stranger to most, the Makalu computing platform is a hardware debut for the Lynk & Co Z10.

Unlike common solutions using ARM architecture chips such as the Qualcomm 8155 and 8295, the Makalu computing platform in the Z10 uses the AMD V2000A as its processor, which is a desktop-class processor for the x86 platform. The CPU performance alone offers a 1.8x advantage over the 8295, with certain performance metrics also showing advantages compared to the 8295 platform.

Compared with currently mainstream solutions, it is already a generation stronger. This means the Lynk & Co Z10 cabin will have a longer platform lifecycle.

With such hardware in place, Flyme Auto can allocate more computing power to implement certain features, such as a high-frame-rate, high-quality 3D desktop, and improve response efficiency and performance in multi-threaded, high-concurrency scenarios. Coupled with Flyme Auto’s excellent underlying interaction design and aesthetics, the cabin solution for the Lynk & Co Z10 starts from a high baseline, and its OTA potential will continue to rise in the future.

On the screen, the Lynk & Co Z10 features a combination of a central control display, instrument cluster, and HUD, along with a design that allows for the addition of a Co Pad on the back of the front seats. Theoretically, this means every passenger can have their own screen, demonstrating good inclusive design for passengers in this regard.

So, setting aside other advantages, the Z10 demonstrates genuine capability in intelligent features, leveraging nearly the best solutions available within Geely Group. This underscores Lynk & Co's determination to establish a strong foothold in intelligence with this vehicle.

Notably, Lynk & Co had one more thing to reveal at the launch event.

First is the Lynk&CO Phone, available in two versions:

The Pro version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for RMB 4,700;

The Note version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for RMB 2,900.

Second, the Xingjimeizu AR Zhinengyanjing StarV View has opened for pre-order at a price of RMB 2,499.

According to official information, the StarV View can connect with Lynk & Co tablets, smartphones, computers, drones and other devices. It projects an image equivalent to an 188-inch screen in front of the user, utilizing a BirdBath optical solution consistent with common AR glasses in this price range.

Finally, there's one more thing: the Z10 Esports Edition, a co-branded model developed jointly by Lynk & Co and Meizu. Let's take a look at its specifications:

Add an AMD RX6600M discrete graphics card to the standard Macallu computing platform;

Samsung OLED 17-inch 90 Hz automotive-grade high-refresh-rate display;

With these top-tier specifications, users can easily play 3A single-player games or PC games in Lynk & Co's esports entertainment cabin.

According to official information, the gaming and entertainment cockpit can be customized on the 95 kWh 766 km rear-wheel-drive smart-driving Max version and the 95 kWh 702 km all-wheel-drive smart-driving Ultra version. The customization fee starts at RMB 30,000, with deliveries beginning in November.

04Final Thoughts

Overall, the Lynk & Co Z10 boasts strong product capabilities. It is evident that by creating five distinct SKUs to differentiate configurations and lower the entry barrier, Lynk & Co is making a concerted effort to attract buyers across various budget ranges.

In reality, the past two years have seen a surge of pure electric sedans in the RMB 200,000–300,000 price segment. Within the Geely Group alone, there are competitors like the Zeekr 007 and Yinhe E8, while external brands such as BYD Han EV, Xiaomi SU7, and Tesla Model 3 present formidable challenges. Therefore, for the Lynk & Co Z10, establishing a clear positioning and target user base is crucial.

However, when comparing the launch pricing of the Lynk & Co Z10 with models in the same price range, it becomes apparent that the Z10 holds advantages in intelligence, chassis dynamics, interior space, and design. Unlike some rivals that suffer from specific weaknesses, the Z10 can be said to have virtually no obvious shortcomings.

The current market competition is particularly fierce, and the Lynk & Co Z10 marks the brand’s first pure electric flagship. To break into the pure electric market and further enhance brand influence and sales volume, Lynk & Co has no choice but to compete aggressively. Judging by tonight’s launch event, Lynk & Co has indeed competed brilliantly with the Z10, raising the intensity of an already highly competitive market.
