VOYAH Zhiyin Takes Center Stage on the Eve of Its Launch

Isaiah

Over the past month, the mid-size pure electric SUV segment priced between RMB 200,000 and RMB 250,000 has become increasingly crowded. Models such as the ONVO L60, Zeekr 7X, and Zhiji LS6 have launched successively, aggressively deploying their full range of capabilities to capture a significant share of the market. Meanwhile, Tesla Model Y, the benchmark product in this segment, continues to perform steadily, holding onto the sales champion title. On October 13, VOYAH Zhiyin, long in the making, is set to officially enter this competitive arena.

However, unlike other brands' models, VOYAH Zhiyin started putting on a show before the formal battle began.

During the National Day holiday, I came across the "VOYAH Zhiyin Spacetime All-In Theater" on Douyin. It featured micro-dramas starring Tang Yi, Da Yuan, and Tang Xiaoyu, with VOYAH Zhiyin "starring" alongside them. In these three micro-dramas, VOYAH Zhiyin played roles that accompanied the protagonists through life, growth, and comebacks. Through these dramas, the product features and user value of VOYAH Zhiyin were vividly demonstrated, bringing substantial heat and attention to both VOYAH and the Zhiyin model.

Micro-dramas have been extremely popular in recent years. Some automakers have recognized the traffic advantages of this format and are beginning to leverage this new marketing channel to promote their products.

Clearly, VOYAH is taking an early step by using micro-dramas for product marketing, aiming to help VOYAH Zhiyin more efficiently reach its target users. As VOYAH's first mid-size SUV offered exclusively in a pure electric version for the mainstream consumer market, VOYAH Zhiyin holds significant importance for VOYAH in opening up new markets and boosting brand sales.

In the micro-dramas, the character portrayed by VOYAH Zhiyin was brave and considerate. So, how does VOYAH Zhiyin actually perform in reality?

01A Younger Side of VOYAH

Distinct from the mature and steady styles presented by the VOYAH Dreamer, VOYAH FREE, and VOYAH Zhuiguang, the VOYAH Zhiyin is a product specifically aimed at younger users, brimming with youthful energy.

In terms of dimensions, the VOYAH Zhiyin is positioned as a mid-size pure electric SUV, with overall length, width, and height measuring 4,725 mm, 1,900 mm, and 1,636 mm respectively, while the wheelbase reaches 2,900 mm.

These interior and exterior dimensions make the VOYAH Zhiyin more agile when navigating narrow urban roads or tight residential compounds, alleviating concerns about minor scrapes. At the same time, they provide ample space for passengers and cargo inside the vehicle.

For instance, in the micro-short drama starring Tang Xiaoyu, after experiencing setbacks and finding himself homeless, he simply folds down the second-row seats to sleep directly in the car, even taking in an elderly person whom he assumes is also homeless.

In terms of exterior design, the VOYAH Zhiyin continues VOYAH's family Kunpeng design style, with smooth and dynamic overall lines. Two slender full-width light strips are symmetrically distributed on either side of the VOYAH badge, making it highly recognizable.

Notably, VOYAH Zhiyin offers two distinct front-end design styles for users to choose from. One style features a cohesive front end that blends seamlessly with the body, presenting a fuller appearance. The other is the 'Starry River' front-end design, composed of 215 light-emitting units. Combined with the VOYAH emblem, these 215 units are sure to attract significant attention.

The rear design of the VOYAH Zhiyin is equally striking, featuring OLED taillights composed of 132 independent zones, a full-width light strip, a spoiler, and a rear diffuser. These elements not only enhance the vehicle's dynamic visual appeal but also improve handling performance during actual driving.

Meanwhile, VOYAH Zhiyin offers seven body color options: Mambo Green, Nebula Gray, Moonlight White, Storm Pink, Polar Night Black, Xuanmo Black, and Clear Sky Blue. If you choose Storm Pink or Mambo Green, they not only add a touch of minimalist fashion but also bring a lively and dynamic vibe.

02A Fun and Practical Lifestyle Companion

While watching Tang Yi’s micro-drama, one scene left a deep impression on me: inside the car, Tang Yi used voice commands to open the hidden fold-out table at the front passenger seat, allowing her employee to organize documents.

This scene stood out because I found the hidden front-passenger table to be a clever design feature. When not in use, it takes up no space in the front passenger area; when needed, it can be easily opened for office work or to hold snacks prepared for long trips. For women, this hidden table also provides an excellent space for applying makeup.

To cater to the needs of younger users, VOYAH Zhiyin incorporates many practical cabin features, such as a hidden fold-out table for the front passenger.

VOYAH Zhiyin’s cockpit is built around the Gaotongxiaolong 8295P chip and dubbed the 'Xiaoyao Cockpit.' This name reflects two aspects: a more 'free-flowing' screen experience and easier vehicle control for passengers.

The "Xiaoyao" screen refers to the 15.05-inch, 2.5K OLED curved sliding display used in the VOYAH Zhiyin center console. It can be slid left or right between the driver and front passenger with a three-finger gesture, better accommodating the front passenger’s needs for using the screen. When the center console screen slides toward the passenger side and the hidden table is deployed, the experience becomes even more comfortable.

At the same time, the curved-edge screen adopted by VOYAH Zhiyin is not only for design considerations; it also has certain functional features. The left curved edge can adjust brightness, while the right curved edge supports volume adjustment.

Easier vehicle control means that, in addition to standard touch and voice commands, VOYAH Zhiyin uses an 8-megapixel interior camera to enable gesture-based control. For example, making an 'OK' sign answers calls, a 'V' sign triggers the camera, a 'shushing' finger mutes media, and a fist pauses music. While static gestures are supported, dynamic gestures are also recognized; waving left or right moves the curved sliding screen accordingly.

In addition, VOYAH Zhiyin's Xiaoyao Cockpit is rapidly adapting to market changes in phone-to-car interaction. It supports projecting the phone interface onto the car display, allowing users to conveniently access their phone while it is wirelessly charging or stored in a pocket, thereby creating a more cohesive cabin experience.

The VOYAH Zhiyin’s audio system offers extensive customization options.

The VOYAH Zhiyin is equipped with 18 sound sources in total, both inside and outside the vehicle. The interior features nine panel-integrated speakers and four subwoofers, while the exterior includes four panel-integrated speakers and one external speaker. Panel-integrated speakers refer to units installed behind interior trim panels, such as the dashboard, which simplifies the interior design and ensures more uniform sound distribution throughout the cabin.

Leveraging these interior and exterior sound sources, users can easily listen to music or sing karaoke (K-song) both inside and outside the vehicle. When heading outdoors for recreation, the VOYAH Zhiyin’s exterior karaoke feature, combined with a light show and outdoor cooking powered by its 3.5 kW external discharge capability, promises an enhanced experience.

For those who are more extroverted, the VOYAH Zhiyin’s external speaker allows you to make announcements to the outside world, becoming the center of attention on the road.

In terms of comfort features, the VOYAH Zhiyin uses high-quality materials generously.

The VOYAH Zhiyin’s driver seat features 12-way power adjustment with memory, while the front passenger seat offers 8-way adjustment with memory. The rear seats provide five-level recline adjustment ranging from 117° to 127°. Both the driver and front passenger seats allow users to customize their preferred comfortable resting positions, enabling a one-touch activation to that position when parked and resting. Additionally, the VOYAH Zhiyin’s seat cushions incorporate extra layers of comfort foam to enhance softness.

Furthermore, the VOYAH Zhiyin features a panoramic sunroof with an opening area of approximately 0.63 square meters, a 128-color breathing ambient lighting system, and an intelligent fragrance system.

This way, when the weather is good, users can adjust the seats to a rest position with one touch, use their favorite fragrance, open the sunroof and ambient lighting, turn on the audio system, and comfortably lie back in the seat to gaze at the sky or stars. In Tang Xiaoyu's skit, Tang Xiaoyu and Wanwan acted out a scene where they drove up a mountain and lay together in the car watching the stars.

Overall, VOYAH Zhiyin feels like a fun, practical, and well-balanced lifestyle companion. Compared to other mid-size pure electric SUVs in the RMB 200,000–250,000 price range, features such as the passenger-side hidden fold-out table, exterior speakers, and curved central control screen provide users with a distinctly different value experience.

03A Reliable and Steady Travel Companion

VOYAH Zhiyin’s cabin is fun and easy to use, while its driving dynamics emphasize reliability and stability.

In terms of intelligent driving, VOYAH Zhiyin’s hardware adopts a visual solution comprising five millimeter-wave radars and ten cameras, combined with high-definition maps and high-precision positioning. According to official information, specific applications include automatically entering and exiting highway ramps, automatic lane changes, and automatic overtaking, enabling point-to-point intelligent pilot-assisted driving.

Additionally, VOYAH Zhiyin performs well in parking, supporting intelligent parking for horizontal, vertical, and diagonal spaces, including head-in parking. It also supports remote parking, trace reverse, and remote vehicle movement along lane lines or remote parking into designated spots. During remote movement, users can monitor the vehicle’s status via their smartphone under 4G/5G network conditions.

As a mid-size pure electric SUV targeting younger buyers, the VOYAH Zhiyin’s driving experience is equally important.

In terms of drivetrain, the VOYAH Zhiyin offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options; on the high-voltage platform, it provides both 400 V and 800 V versions.

Among them, the VOYAH Zhiyin's 400 V rear-wheel-drive version has a motor peak power of 215 kW and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds; the 400 V all-wheel-drive version has a motor peak power of 320 kW and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds; the 800 V version is available only in rear-wheel drive, with a motor peak power of 230 kW and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds.

These figures indicate that the powertrain is ample for daily use across all variants. However, for more confident handling of extreme driving scenarios—such as Tang Yi driving through floodwaters in heavy rain to sign a contract in the drama—choosing the all-wheel-drive version may be advantageous.

For suspension, the VOYAH Zhiyin uses a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link setup, complemented by CDC adjustable-damping suspension. This system scans road conditions 5–15 meters ahead to adjust damper damping in real time, enhancing ride comfort.

Regarding braking, the VOYAH Zhiyin is equipped with Bosch’s latest Intelligent Integrated Brake (IPB) system. This effectively reduces brake dive while delivering faster, more responsive pedal feel. According to official data, the vehicle achieves a shortest hundred-zero braking distance of 35.73 meters.

VOYAH Zhiyin also delivers solid performance in terms of range.

The VOYAH Zhiyin is available with three battery configurations: 77 kWh, 79 kWh, and 109 kWh. The corresponding ranges are as follows:

77 kWh 400 V rear-wheel-drive version: 625 km;

77 kWh 400 V all-wheel-drive version: 570 km;

79 kWh 800 V rear-wheel-drive version: 650 km;

109 kWh 800 V rear-wheel-drive version: 901 km.

Additionally, the VOYAH Zhiyin models equipped with the 800 V high-voltage platform support 5 C super-fast charging. According to official data, the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in just 10 minutes, while a 15-minute charge adds 515 km of range.

As for how the VOYAH Zhiyin performs in terms of driving dynamics and range after its official launch, readers are encouraged to stay tuned for our upcoming review content.

04Final Thoughts

For VOYAH, the VOYAH Zhiyin is a product of significant milestone importance.

On one hand, the VOYAH Zhiyin is VOYAH’s first mid-size SUV offered exclusively in an all-electric version; on the other, it is the brand’s first global all-electric model launched following its Let's VOYAH "Co-VOYAH" overseas strategy unveiled earlier this year.

Therefore, VOYAH must secure a decisive victory with the VOYAH Zhiyin. In the fiercely competitive 200,000–250,000 RMB mid-size all-electric SUV segment, filled with strong rivals, VOYAH has deployed the VOYAH Zhiyin as a flagship weapon to aggressively compete.

In terms of product, the VOYAH Zhiyin maintains solid performance in the most critical areas—intelligent driving, smart cockpit, interior space, range, and charging capabilities—while also introducing creative touches like a hidden fold-out table for the front passenger seat. Its positioning clearly targets younger users. In marketing, VOYAH has taken an early step by experimenting with micro-dramas as a new promotional channel, building significant traffic buzz ahead of the launch.

However, to stand out among the cluster of mid-size all-electric SUVs launching soon, the VOYAH Zhiyin ultimately needs to offer a compelling price.

The current pre-sale price has been set at RMB 209,900–266,900. Considering VOYAH’s product lineup, pricing, and positioning, the VOYAH Zhiyin appears competitively viable in the 200,000–250,000 RMB market, though it still faces intense competition.

Once the VOYAH Zhiyin officially launches on October 13, what price point do you think would be necessary to drive sales volume upward?
