On the afternoon of April 26, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneur Edition was officially launched in Hangzhou. As the entry-level variant, it is offered in one model priced at RMB 145,800. The vehicle is equipped with a 63 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and offers a CLTC range of 410 km.

Additionally, Geely Radar announced a limited-time promotion from now until 24:00 on May 4. Users who have placed orders but not yet taken delivery, as well as new customers ordering the Leida RD6, can receive a discount where a deposit of RMB 3,000 counts toward RMB 8,000 of the vehicle price. For existing users whose vehicles were delivered before 24:00 on April 23, Geely Radar will provide a subsidy of 50,000 points to each user.

01What are the configuration changes?

Compared to the previously launched Maker Edition, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneur Edition has moved the 70-liter front trunk (frunk) and the external discharge function to optional extras. It also removes the iBooster electronic brake booster system, reduces the number of smart keys from two to one, and eliminates the leather-wrapped steering wheel and one-touch window operation for all four doors.

Practical features such as three selectable driving modes, automatic parking hold, a 12.3-inch floating central control screen, intelligent voice vehicle control, mobile app remote control, a 6-speaker audio system, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, and rearview camera have been retained. It can be seen that the Leida RD6 Entrepreneur Edition mainly cancels some icing-on-the-cake features; although they are gone, it does not affect the overall vehicle usage experience.

02Entry-level trim: Are there exterior and interior differences?

Compared with higher-spec models such as the Qihang Edition and Chuangke Edition released previously, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneurship Edition shows no significant changes in exterior design. Its overall styling leans toward Geely’s early family language elements; sharp lines effectively convey a youthful and fashionable product image, breaking away from the rugged style common to traditional pickups. It is distinct at first glance. The full-width light strip on the front further highlights its identity as an electric vehicle.

Although the Leida RD6 is a pickup with a cargo bed, it feels more like a city SUV before the C-pillar. This similarity extends beyond design to its body structure: the Leida RD6 adopts a unibody construction, which is rare among pickups, indicating that it was not designed for off-road use. Its primary role is that of an urban pickup, a fact also reflected by its single-motor powertrain. Therefore, rather than emphasizing off-road capability, it prioritizes comfortable driving and riding qualities, making the choice of a unibody structure logical.

Aside from configuration adjustments, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneurship Edition retains the same design and functional layout as other versions. It features dual 12.3-inch digital displays and runs the Galaxy OS intelligent connected system. The system offers rich functionality and smooth operation, supports OTA online updates, and allows various smart settings. It also includes several practical apps that enable remote control of windows, air conditioning, and other functions via a smartphone.

The Leida RD6 measures 5,260 x 1,900 x 1,830 mm in dimensions, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm. Its length, width, and wheelbase exceed those of many mid-to-large SUVs, indicating robust cargo capacity alongside spacious interior accommodation. The side profile reveals that the cabin occupies a larger proportion of the vehicle's footprint, particularly in the rear seating area, suggesting a design focus on passenger comfort.

Powertrain-wise, the model retains a rear-mounted single-motor layout featuring a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 200 kW and a peak torque of 384 N·m. It is equipped with a 63 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Compared to higher trims that offer 86 to 100 kWh ternary lithium batteries, this configuration yields a slightly shorter range of 410 km, though it remains sufficient for daily urban commuting.

For optional equipment, we recommend the 6 kW external power discharge module. This feature supports six discharge modes: stationary discharge, mobile discharge, locked-vehicle discharge, 220V/10A household appliance outlets, 220V/16A industrial power outlets, and a 12V low-voltage interface. The benefits of this option are detailed below.

First, from a utility perspective, if the RD6 serves as a daily work vehicle, the external discharge capability allows for the transport of temperature-sensitive goods and powers outdoor tools such as electric saws.

Second, if you plan to use the RD6 for holiday outings, the 6 kW external discharge capability can meet most of your power needs, such as for barbecues and stewing. This allows you to avoid the messy and labor-intensive work of handling charcoal, making camping easier.

Therefore, if price sensitivity is not a primary concern, selecting this configuration is advisable.

03Conclusion

As a more accessible variant, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneurship Edition lowers the entry price through configuration adjustments, reflecting the fact that pickups in China primarily serve as utility vehicles.

A lower price point may offer greater competitiveness than an abundance of features. Even as an entry-level model, the Leida RD6 Entrepreneurship Edition breaks away from traditional pickup limitations, advancing its utility functions to deliver more diverse scenario experiences.
