On June 17, the Chinese tech giant Baidu announced its 5th generation Robotaxi in Beijing.

Named Apollo Moon, this new model is equipped with 2 lidars, 13 cameras, 5 millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The main lidar is co-developed by Baidu and HESAI Tech.

Currently, the cost of this car is RMB 480,000. Baidu plans to to update this generation every 2 years, while increasing its performance 10 times and lower the cost by half.

In 2023, Baidu Apollo aims at 3,000 vehicles, covering 30 cities & 3 million users.
