Yes, the last international A-level auto show of the year will officially open in Guangzhou on the 19th of this month. In the remaining less than a week, most of the exhibitors have already announced the lineup of new cars to be exhibited.

As expected, the new energy models exhibited today have become the focus of the entire auto show, and the “new energy war” between new forces and traditional car companies has become increasingly fierce and interesting. According to statistics, more than half of the cars exhibited at this year’s Guangzhou Auto Show are new energy models, covering new car launches, global debuts, and cool concept cars. So, what highlights does the new energy lineup at this auto show bring? Who can become the “headline hot list” between new energy and traditional car companies?

Kia EV6

New car highlights: Korean version of “Peugeot C5 X”, Kia’s flagship electric car, the first exclusive electric car model on the E-GMP platform

As the first exclusive electric car model developed on the E-GMP platform, the EV6 has efficient electric performance. It only takes 14 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80%, and the maximum NEDC cruising range is up to 600 kilometers. It only takes 4.5 minutes to increase the cruising range by 100 kilometers. The EV6 GT-line model has a acceleration time of only 3.5 seconds per hundred kilometers and a maximum speed of 260 kilometers per hour, with powerful performance comparable to supercars.

In terms of appearance, the Kia EV6 adopts the “Opposites United” design concept. The first feeling is the obvious cross-border effect. At the same time, the large size through-type taillights are connected with the side skirts, and the headlight shape is also quite unique. It is worth mentioning that the EV6 also uses a brand new Kia logo. Thanks to the advantages of the pure electric architecture, the Kia EV6 has a wheelbase of 2900mm and is expected to have good interior space performance.

In terms of interior design, Kia EV6 will adopt new organic materials and be equipped with new technologies to enhance the interaction between humans and vehicles and thereby improve driving experience. As for details, the new car features dual 12-inch curved screens, enabling the addition of rich touch buttons, knob-style gear selectors, and a double-spoke dual-color multifunction steering wheel, which makes the new car look very avant-garde.

Regarding power and endurance, both Kia EV6 and EV6 GT-line will provide a long-range version with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and a standard-range version with a 58 kWh battery pack, along with the options for four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive. The maximum power of the two-wheel-drive version of EV6 long-range is 228 horsepower; the maximum power of the four-wheel-drive version of EV6 long-range is 325 horsepower, with a peak torque of 605 Nm. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

The top configuration EV6 GT only offers a long-range four-wheel-drive version, with a maximum power of 585 horsepower and a peak torque of 740 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h. Additionally, the new car will be equipped with an exclusive electronic limited-slip differential.

Cadillac Lyriq

Highlights: First native pure electric mid-size SUV, 33-inch curved screen

Not long ago, SAIC-GM Cadillac brand announced that the Cadillac Lyriq production car would be released on November 17 and unveiled the pre-sale price. The starting price of the new car in overseas markets is $59,990 (approximately RMB 389,100), and after domestic production, it is expected to be priced between RMB 450,000 to 550,000, higher than the Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW iX3 but lower than the Audi e-tron.

The Cadillac Lyriq is built on the Altium electric car platform and can be said to be a completely original luxury intelligent pure electric SUV. In terms of appearance, the new concept version of the car presented a futuristic effect at the Shanghai Auto Show at the beginning of the year, with the iconic shield-shaped grille still retaining the Cadillac family characteristics and added with densely arranged chrome-plated fillings. As for the interior, the new car is based on the new generation of VCS smart virtual cockpit, featuring a 33-inch integrated large screen that looks very wide, a huge steering wheel size, a knob-shift, and a large area of leather wrapping, all of which give people a luxurious visual experience. Fyfe ES33: New Name and Equipped with LIDAR/33 Sensors

The Fyfe ES33 production version was unveiled at the 2021 Chengdu Motor Show and is positioned as a mid-to-large pure electric SUV and the brand’s flagship model. The new car is expected to be launched and delivered in 2022. At the Guangzhou Auto Show, the new car will officially announce its new name, and as for whether the interior will be unveiled at the same time, we’ll have to wait and see.

In terms of appearance, the new car features a closed-style design with a through-light band, forming a new universal crystal light and creating a strong fighting spirit with a downward diving trend.

From the side, the production version of the ES33 continues the design of the concept car, and the sloping shape makes the new car especially dynamic. However, the new car has added rearview mirrors and some changes have been made to the wheels for mass production. On the rear, the ES33 production version retains the concept car’s through taillights and tail wings, but does not continue the concept car’s diffuser. Although the sporty atmosphere has become more restrained, the new rear bumper shape is still very dynamic.

As for the interior, referring to previous reports, the ES33 will be equipped with the world’s first digital intelligent cockpit and a high-end autonomous driving solution developed by PP-CEM. In addition, the ES33 will also be equipped with the world’s leading laser radar solution and NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin™, a super-powerful computing chip.

BYD Destroyer 05

Some time ago, spy photos of the exterior and interior of a car marked as BYD F5 were circulated on the internet. The design language of the exterior of the car, which has already been exposed in its patent application, differs from the existing Dynasty and e-series models, and the car will be powered by a DM-i plug-in hybrid system. The car may be sold on e-series in the future. According to reports, The new car will be named BYD Destroyer 05. As the first pure electric SUV of the e-platform 3.0, the car’s appearance adopts the latest Dragon Face 3.0 design language of the BYD family, which is more atmospheric overall. Recently, XPeng Motors’ official WeChat account released a teaser image of the brand new SUV under the XPeng brand. According to information previously disclosed in the prospectus, this new SUV is positioned as a mid-to-large-sized SUV and will make its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

From the teaser, the new car’s side profile looks quite stable, with smooth lines, and the rear contour is concave and convex. It is expected that the headlights will use a similar design to the slim light strips and split headlights of the P7 and P5 models.

From the previous spy photos, the new car adopts XPeng Motors’ latest family design language, but the light strips seem to be thicker to increase the sense of power. The new car will be produced on the same platform as the XPeng P7, equipped with advanced autonomous driving systems and laser radar, supporting the XPILOT 4.0 system, and will be equipped with intelligent chassis and air suspension.

IM L7

New car highlights: The production version of the interior is officially shown

According to official news from IM Auto, its first sedan, the production version of IM L7, will officially debut its interior design on November 16th, and the new car will also make its first appearance of the actual car interior at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show, which starts on the 19th. The car was previously set for pre-sale during the Shanghai Auto Show at a price of RMB 4.088 million, with plans to be delivered in the first half of 2022.

The overall design of IM L7 is quite fashionable, featuring a dual-color body design, a closed frontal facade, and a logo that is a hidden digital password for “0-1”. The front headlights are extremely sharp in shape, resembling a “Σ”, enhancing the aura of the front face. Functionally, the 2.6 million-pixel DLP laser projector headlight can project important information such as intersection information and lane changing instructions on the road ahead.

The side profile is very sporty, with a deep waistline and slightly outward-recessed rear wheel arches, giving the vehicle a sense of strength. It will also feature hidden door handles, a smart four-door electric opening and closing system (electric opening + electric suction), and fully-encased silent glass. The length and width of the new car are 5098/1960 mm, respectively, the wheelbase is 3100 mm, the front wheel spacing is 1650 mm, and the rear wheel spacing is 1660 mm.

The enveloping interior design looks very sci-fi and concise. The dual-spoke steering-wheel has a unique appearance, and on the top of the center console is a 39-inch integral suspended ultra-wide screen, which includes the instrument panel, center console screen, and co-pilot entertainment screen, and can be raised and lowered. The bottom is a 12.8-inch 2K AMOLED curved smart control center screen.### Landtour MPV

Highlights: A high-end MPV designed to compete with the Toyota Alphard, available in pure electric and range extending options. Equipped with silicon-doped lithium battery technology and achieving single-cell energy density of 300 Wh/kg; maximum range of nearly 1000 km. It is also the first mass-produced car to be equipped with 11 kW high-power wireless charging that can charge 10.5 kWh of electricity in an hour, equivalent to 70-80 km of range according to NEDC driving condition, ensuring daily commuting.

Some time ago, a set of spy photos suspected to be Landtour’s first pure electric MPV was circulated online. The car is still heavily disguised and covered with camouflage coatings in the photos.

Considering the spy photos taken during the road test, the front of the new car will adopt a direct waterfall grille design, with large air flow channels on both sides of the grille, wrapped in black decoration strips. The shape of the front lamps is very sharp, and the lamp cavity is equipped with circular daytime running lights.

From the side of the car, the new model uses a boxy body structure similar to the Alphard but with sharp edges, ensuring headroom in the rear section. Additionally, the rear seats are equipped with privacy glass and sliding doors. Moreover, the body adopts sharp lines and bulging waistlines with lower side skirts, creating clear layering of the body.

As for the rear part of the car, the left and right taillights are equipped with multiple L-shaped light strips, but it is unclear whether they are through-designs. Regarding other precise information about the car, the official statement only indicates that the Landtour MPV front and rear doors are equipped with 3 black technology features: 2000 MPa integrated hot-formed door rings, 2000 MPa aluminum-silicon-coated door anti-collision beams, and through-aluminum door sills strength reinforcements. The proportion of high-strength steel used in the entire car is 70%, and the proportion of hot-formed steel reaches 23.6%. It is positioned as a medium-to-large sized all-electric SUV, equipped with a front and rear dual motor system, and its maximum range can reach up to 630 kilometers.

In terms of appearance, the new car still uses BMW’s signature large-size closed kidney grille, with a surface layer made of a special polyurethane coating and heating filaments. In addition, the large headlight assembly on both sides of the car adopts a slender design with LED daytime running lights inside. The front bumper on both sides adopts a design similar to a heat dissipation opening, which enhances the car’s delicacy.

The design of a through-line waist creates a slender body effect, while the lines of the front and rear fenders portray a wide-bodied visual impression. Together with the wide and thick side skirts and the large-size spokes of the mesh wheels, the new car’s sense of weightiness is enhanced.

The new car’s interior is equipped with a popular full LCD instrument panel, a dual-screen design connecting the central control multimedia touch screen, and an iDrive 8.0 car system, making it more convenient to operate. The WLTP range is 425 kilometers. The iX xDrive 50 model has a maximum power of 523 horsepower, peak torque of 765 Newton-meters, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.6 seconds. With a net capacity of 105.2 kilowatt-hours, the maximum WLTP range is 630 kilometers.

Mercedes EQA/EQB, Maybach EQS

Highlights: EQA and EQB new models will be launched simultaneously, and the Maybach EQS concept car will debut nationally.

According to the official Mercedes announcement, Mercedes will bring six new cars to the Guangzhou Auto Show, three of which will be their domestic debut. Among them, in terms of new energy models, Mercedes will launch EQA and EQB; Maybach will bring the Maybach EQS concept car for its debut.

In October, the presale prices for the Mercedes EQA and EQB models were announced and pre-orders were accepted. The presale price of the EQA300 4MATIC is 370,000 yuan, and the presale price of the EQB350 4MATIC is 440,000 yuan. Both new vehicles have already rolled off the production line at the Beijing Mercedes factory.

On the latest MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) declaration list, EQA260’s declaration information was also found, which is expected to further lower the entry price. EQA is the second pure electric vehicle manufactured in China by Mercedes-Benz under the “Made in China, Global Quality” strategy. It has a 73.5 kilowatt-hour battery, front and rear dual-motor, and a CLTC range of 537 kilometers. It is also equipped with fast-charging advantages, which can replenish 80% of the battery’s capacity within 45 minutes.

EQB has both front and rear motors, with a maximum power of 292 horsepower (215 kW) and a peak torque of 520 Nm. The range under CLTC work condition is 512 kilometers. Both models adopt the family design of Mercedes-Benz, and are sure to satisfy everyone in terms of appearance and interior.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV concept car was previously unveiled at this year’s Munich Motor Show. It is the first pure electric product under the Maybach brand, representing the direction of electrification for this luxury brand.

The overall design is futuristic, but still adopts the classic Maybach two-tone body design. The upper part is Obsidian Black metallic paint and the lower part is Zircon Red metallic paint. The M logo on the D-pillar and the iconic 24-inch “big pancake” wheels are both signature features of the brand. The official statement indicates that the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV will be officially put into production in 2022, and the Maybach EQS SUV will only be launched after the regular version. Mercedes-Benz stated that the range of this car is expected to be around 600km.

Volkswagen ID.5/ID.5 GTX

New car highlights: Crossover Sports SUV

Not long ago, Volkswagen released a set of official pictures of the ID.5, a pure electric crossover sports SUV that fills the gap in Volkswagen’s ID coupe series and targets the Tesla Model Y in positioning. The series is divided into ID.5 and high-performance version ID.5 GTX, which share the powertrain with the ID.4 series and can be regarded as the coupe versions of the ID.4 series.

In terms of appearance, the car continues the family design language of the ID. series, with a similar front-end design as the ID.4, but with some modifications in details. It adopts the common sloping back design of a coupe SUV, with a sportier appearance. Unlike vehicles with a sloping back design, the ID.5 does not use an upturned little duck-tail style tail design, but a fixed spoiler, which improves the recognition of the whole car.

The ID.5 GTX sport version features LED fog lights and GTX lettering on the rear, which is more personalized than the regular ID.5.

In terms of interior, the ID.5 also uses the family design language of the ID. series, with a simple and technological appearance similar to the ID.4. The ID.5 GTX adds many red elements to the interior design to highlight its sporty characteristics.

In terms of power, the ID.5 series is a single-motor rear-wheel drive car, with the maximum power of ID.5 Pro and ID.5 Pro Performance being 128 kW and 150 kW respectively. The maximum power of the dual-motor four-wheel drive version ID.5 GTX is 220 kW. In terms of charging performance, the ID.5 family can use a household charger with 11 kW or a 135 kW fast charger, which can replenish 320-390 km of driving range within 30 minutes, demonstrating good practicality.

WM Motor M7

Highlights: Full of hardcore black technology from the outside to the inside, and the interior is expected to make its first appearance.

According to WM Motor’s official statement, WM Motor will showcase three products including the WM Motor M7, WM Motor W6, and WM Motor EX5. This is the first time WM Motor has exhibited a complete lineup of “SUV + sedan” at the auto show.

In terms of appearance, the WmAuto M7 largely follows the design of the Maven concept car, with slim headlights giving the front a sharp look, and a continuous light strip extending to the front fenders for high recognition. Especially with the adoption of the “Vitalligent Emotional Space” design concept, both the front and rear light groups feature lighting language function.

On the side of the vehicle, the overall design remains very streamlined. The new car is equipped with laser radar on both sides of the fenders and the roof. In terms of size, the new car is 4930 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2918 mm with short front and rear overhangs. Apart from the exterior improvements, its interior space is stronger than that of other vehicles in the same class.

In the rear of the vehicle, the streamlined posture presented on the side is still maintained, but the design is more inclined towards simplicity, with higher position for the tail lights, and segmented design, making it highly recognizable when fully lit.

As for the interior, the vehicle uses a black and green “two-color asymmetrical space” scheme, and the WmAuto M7 adopts the “zero button” interactive design concept. The simplified layout of the interior, as well as the continuous dashboard design, greatly enhance the sense of technology. In addition, a i-Surf dot matrix screen is added to the passenger side, which displays common information such as time, weather, and temperature, and can also exhibit welcoming and door opening reminders based on scene setting.

Although the official information on the WmAuto M7’s power and configuration has not been released, based on the relevant information of the WmAuto Maven concept car, it is estimated that the WmAuto M7’s power consumption can be controlled within 14 kilowatt hours per hundred kilometers after mass production, and its range can reach at least 700 kilometers.

GAC Honda e: NP1

New car features: First offline appearance

According to Honda’s previous plan, the GAC Honda e: NP1 special edition will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show for the first time, and will be officially launched in the spring of next year. Its sister model, the Dongfeng Honda e: NS1, was previously exhibited at the Wuhan Auto Show, and it is expected that both models will be displayed at the same exhibition in Guangzhou.

The GAC Honda e:NP1 special edition is built on the Honda e:N Architecture F pure electric platform. According to the previously released information, the new car adopts the latest e:N Design language from Honda for its exterior design. The car body features extremely tough lines, sharp headlight styling, and the illuminable Honda emblem, making the vehicle look very high-tech and easily recognizable.

In terms of interior design, the new car will also adopt the latest design concept from Honda, featuring a minimalist design that also considers ease of operation. The new car will be equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 15.2-inch center console screen, ensuring both technological and practical aspects are well taken care of.

Regarding the power system, there are currently no specific configuration details available, but it has been confirmed that the maximum range of the new car will exceed 500 km.

Toyota bZ4X

Highlights: 100% concept car reduction, Tesla-style non-circular steering wheel

At the end of October, the first pure electric SUV of the Toyota bZ series, the bZ4X, was revealed. The new car is positioned as a mid-size pure electric SUV and is built on the e-TNGA architecture. Its electric motor can output a maximum power of 150 kW, and the WLTC-cycle range can reach 500 km. In addition, the new car will be launched for sale in China in mid-2022, and it will further promote the expansion of Toyota’s BEV product lineup.

From the official pictures previously released, the Toyota bZ4X adopts a brand new exterior design language that is completely different from existing models, featuring a closed grille with extremely radical C-shaped headlights, creating a sense of technology that is unique to new energy vehicles. On the side of the car, its lines are also very tough, exuding a sense of power, and the wheel arches are decorated with black accents, highlighting the car’s imposing presence.

Compared to the exterior, the interior of the new car is very advanced, featuring a similar Tesla-style rectangular steering wheel that outperforms many other models by combining a line-control steering system with a non-circular steering wheel. At the same time, the wrap-around instrument panel creates a sense of immersion in the cockpit.According to official sources, the new car is equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense intelligent safety assistance package and supports OTA software upgrades.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 71.4kWh battery capacity and provide two WLTC range options: 460 km and 500 km. It is equipped with a heat pump air conditioner and supports high-power charging in various countries and regions. In DC fast charging mode, it can reach 150 kW power and be charged to 80% full in 30 minutes.
