Unintentionally, I've driven 20,000 kilometers! An extreme experience of KR deep!

Hello everyone, I am Fish Xiaoyang. Time flies, and I have been with JiKe001 for 10 months. Looking back on these 10 months, I have driven 20,000 kilometers in total, averaging 2,000 kilometers per month. As a family car, this mileage is not low, which is also the main reason why I bought an electric car. Gasoline is too expensive, and I can’t afford it, haha.

Below, let’s talk about the driving experience of these 20,000 kilometers:

🔹Body🔹

Okay, to be honest, I bought JiKe001 for its appearance. Every aspect of it, such as the hunting-style body, frameless coupe, split headlights, through taillights, floating screen, Nappa leather, etc., all hit my buying points, to the point that my wife once suspected that I bought JiKe001 to pick up girls, haha.

The overall size of JiKe001 is slightly larger than that of the same level. The larger size gives it more space, and it is very comfortable whether it is for passengers or carrying goods. The liftback trunk is very practical, the opening is relatively large, and it is convenient to move large items. At the same time, the trunk space is huge, and it can be perfectly matched with the air cushion bed from the mall when the rear seats are folded down, becoming a mobile “big bed room.”

At the same time, the large body is also a disadvantage. Every time I enter or leave the crowded old neighborhood, pass through narrow rural roads, or park in narrow parking spaces, it is simply a painful experience. There is a 2.4-meter width limit on the bridge in front of my old house. My previous small car easily passed it, but since I changed to JiKe001, I can no longer pass it. Every time I go back to my old house, I have to take a detour and drive an extra 5 kilometers. Although I have now become accustomed to the large size of JiKe001, I still need to maintain a sense of awe and be careful when encountering special situations.

🔹Mode🔹

For the needs of a family car, I chose the WE100 version. 3.8s is too fast, and my heart cannot bear it. At first, I used the comfort mode + medium recovery. This way, the acceleration is not abrupt, and releasing the accelerator pedal does not have a strong drag feeling. Passengers don’t feel carsick. As my driving skills improved and I explored new things, I slowly started using the comfort mode + high recovery. The drag feeling when releasing the accelerator pedal in high recovery mode can also be controlled by driving skills. Just decide how much to release the accelerator pedal based on the distance, which can reduce the frequency of braking and wear on brake pads.## Driving

Some of you may wonder why I don’t use one-pedal mode, which can greatly reduce the use of the brake. However, there is a safety concern. Imagine that you are used to accelerating and decelerating by stepping on the brake pedal, what would happen in an emergency situation? Would you automatically step on the brake pedal? Also, I find it uncomfortable when I need to move the car because of the conflicting need to stop and move as I get closer to the obstacle. Releasing the accelerator will stop the car, but I need to step on the accelerator again to move a little further.
As for the bug recently discovered, when setting the driving mode to Economy, the actual acceleration feels the same as in the Normal Comfort mode. I hope this issue will be improved in the next OTA update.

🔹Suspension🔹

My car model does not have air suspension. The traditional mechanical suspension tuning is excellent, with very tight handling and cornering. When going through a small pothole, there are two dull “bang bang” sounds, and the chassis filters the bumps out very cleanly, without any extra rebound in the steering wheel. I usually use the Comfort mode, and the front part of the brake is softer because of the regenerative braking. As I continue to press, the brake system starts to intervene, and the braking force increases noticeably. Overall, the braking experience of the Giga K1 is very linear, with good foot feel that is easy to adapt to. The noise reduction level of the whole vehicle is very high. When driving at low and medium speeds, there is almost no noise outside the car, and the quietness inside the car exceeds that of many cars of the same level. However, when the speed exceeds 80 km/h, the noise is relatively louder, and occasionally there is a bit of whistling sound from the edge of the car window. At this time, the importance of Yamaha audio system is highlighted 😃.

One thing to note is that the single motor is more prone to slip in rainy weather, so when accelerating from a stop, don’t floor the accelerator. When driving on high-level corners or in underground parking lots with epoxy floor paint, be sure to slow down. A rear-wheel-drive car basically can’t stop if the surface is wet and the speed is too fast. Faced with such road conditions, I recommend switching to Economy mode to slow down and prioritize safety.

Finally, I want to add some information about my tire pressure setting when the tires are cold.

In hot weather, for a single motor: front 260 kPa, rear 270 kPa; for a double motor: front 270 kPa, rear 270 kPa.When it’s cold outside, single motor: front 270kPa, rear 280kPa; dual motor: front 280kPa, rear 280kPa.

🔹Power consumption🔹

This is a topic that cannot be avoided after taking delivery, and is discussed almost every day among car enthusiasts: “Wow, I drove 13.6 km with super low power consumption today”; “Why can’t my power consumption drop to below 20?”; “Your power consumption is so low, did you push your car off?”. There are many factors that affect power consumption, such as road conditions, weather, temperature, driving habits, etc., so don’t be too concerned about how much power your car consumes. Just drive comfortably, after all, electricity is not expensive.

As mentioned before, I use comfort mode + medium regeneration, and usually drive on highways and provincial roads. In terms of range, it’s about 80% in summer, 60% in winter, and around 85% in spring and autumn without turning on the air conditioning. For an electric car with a weight of 2.3 tons, I’m already very satisfied with the power consumption. During one long-distance highway trip to Nanjing, I drove at 120 km/h, and it consumed about 1 kWh of electricity to travel 5 kilometers. It was also the first time I used the extreme supercharging station in Nanjing, and the charging speed and environment at the station was really great.

🔹Infotainment system🔹

Talking about the infotainment system software, well, there’s really nothing to boast about. I can only say that this is not one of LYNK&CO’s specialties. Overall, it works fine, haha. Let me talk about an issue that I found recently when there was a typhoon and heavy rain. After unlocking the car, the windows of all four doors will automatically drop a little. This is not a problem on sunny days, but on windy and rainy days, all the rainwater flows into the car. I hope this issue can be improved in the future.

Okay, that’s all for this time. LYNK&CO called me to replace the BMS 8155!

See you next time!
