For “Her”
Do you remember the “Meitu phone”?
It may be the most “special” product I have ever experienced, with every detail exuding exquisite and fashionable labels. As a “tough guy,” the Meitu phone has also become one of the few memories I have of “designed for women.”
But it wasn’t until Euler released the first female-exclusive car-the Euler Bailei Cat-that I realized that cars could be designed this way.
The model that came to our intelligent cockpit test center this issue is the Euler Bailei Cat. Let’s take a look at what makes this intelligent cockpit, designed specifically for women, stand out.
Preface
- Digital Intelligence + ICBT-100 Intelligent Cockpit Evaluation System (Click for detailed standards)
Nowadays, intelligent cockpits have developed to the point where they are no longer purely satisfying functional needs. Traditional passive interaction (initiated by humans) is moving towards active interaction (machines can initiate it according to user needs), and more natural and emotional functions are quietly changing our driving habits.
To this end, we have launched the “Digital Intelligence + ICBT-100 Intelligent Cockpit Evaluation Standards,” which mainly involve the three categories of intelligent hardware, interaction capability, and application ecology.
Hardware
It has to be said that Euler has indeed created a very cozy atmosphere in the interior of the Bailei Cat, with a pink color scheme that is full of girly style, and the crystal armrest area next to the “Swan Lake” can easily capture the hearts of girls.
Back to the topic, the Euler Bailei Cat’s central control area uses the current mainstream integrated dual-screen layout, with a complete high-definition glass that integrates the originally separated 10.25-inch full LCD instrument and 12.3-inch central control screen, achieving a more exquisite design aesthetic.
In terms of screen hardware, the Euler Bailei Cat uses a 12.3-inch In-Cell attachment technology TFT-LCD display with a resolution of 1920*720 and a PPI of 167 (RGB standard arrangement), and the actual display edge sawtooth control is still acceptable.
In addition, the screen color reductibility of the car is at an excellent level. The measured NTCS color gamut is 91.3% (normal notebook screen color gamut is 72%). The peak brightness is measured at 591.98nit, and the lowest brightness is 0.81 nit. Even under strong light, the screen display effect is equally outstanding.
It should be noted that the high brightness also brings a high screen temperature. During the testing process, the peak temperature of the screen reached 41.6 degrees Celsius, causing some obvious thermal feeling during use (although compared with the Changan UNI-V 50 degrees tested before, it is still considered acceptable).
At the same time, thanks to the oleophobic layer on the screen surface, the screen’s scratch resistance has reached a high level, especially in suppressing fingerprints generated during touch.
Regarding the basic hardware of the cockpit, the credit for the smooth experience of the ORA Ballet Cat goes to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip solution (7nm process), which is more than 3 times more powerful than the previous generation 820A solution.
Matching it is 6GB of RAM and UFS2.0 64GB of storage space. Although this configuration is not fresh for the mobile phone industry, it is already a mainstream level for the car industry.
Regarding expansion interfaces, the ORA Ballet Cat provides two USB TYPE-A and two SD card slots. However, it should be noted that after multiple tests, the multimedia system cannot directly read SD cards, and it seems that the scope of application can only be limited to driving recorders and car selfies.
Interaction
In the IT world, there is a saying: “Without system optimization, even the best hardware will be futile.” This reflects the importance of the system. In the intelligent cockpit test, interactive ability accounts for a large part, and in this section, we divide it into three dimensions: system, voice, and others.
The car machine of the ORA Ballet Cat is based on the development of ORA CE car system for android. The whole interface does not have a fixed homepage mode, but is divided into different homepages according to the functional logic. That is to say, clicking on the fixed module on the left side will lead to different main pages such as map, music, air conditioning menu, and setting menu.
After entering the settings, a flat design layout with unified cute UI elements is used to succinctly display all the functions.
I have to say, Euler is really good at designing “female beauty” in such a gorgeous interface. How could the little sisters resist it?
From a user perspective, the convenient layout of the main page makes it much easier for users to get started with Euler Ballet Cat. The top two menu levels are also very convenient to operate, and the entire menu page has a clear hierarchy.
In terms of system fluency, thanks to the fast system response time, Euler Ballet Cat’s logic testing time is only 1 minute, 31 seconds and 65 milliseconds, which is excellent among all tested car models.
Test instructions: Within a specified time, the user who experiences it for the first time opens each function in sequence according to the process: match the mobile phone Bluetooth → open Bluetooth music (begin playing) → dial 10086 (connected) → adjust the car screen brightness (adjust to the brightest) → navigate to the destination, and see who completes it in the shortest time.
In terms of speech recognition, Euler Ballet Cat uses the latest mainstream iFlytek speech interaction system, which supports default/customized wake-up words (“XiaoOuXiaoOu”) or wake-up by steering wheel button. There are also two independent microphones in the front row to ensure recognition of the driver and the passenger as well as noise reduction.
In actual multimedia and voice testing, Euler Ballet Cat has no problem with simple tasks like searching for songs, switching songs, and pausing. It can also search for third-party video content through voice and perfectly implement video fast-forwarding and next episode functions (thumbs up).
For navigation projects, Euler Ballet Cat can also complete single destination navigation, insert intermediate waypoints (which even an ideal L9 cannot do), zoom in or out, and adjust the navigation volume through voice control.
In terms of comfort settings, the Euler Ballet Cat can easily turn on the air conditioning, adjust the temperature and wind speed, switch between blowing on head or feet, and open car windows. Moreover, it can accurately identify semantic meanings such as “I am cold/hot”.
In addition, the advanced functions of the current version of the Euler Ballet Cat support three features: continuous conversation recognition, semantic interruption, and wake-up-free command. Among them, continuous conversation recognition can recognize commands continuously within 15 seconds without the need for a wake-up word. Semantic interruption allows users to give new commands even during long broadcasts, without waiting for the broadcast to finish. The voice will automatically play the new command after it is issued.
The wake-up-free command currently supports 25 functions, covering commonly used functions, which is still very good. However, the downside is that the Euler Ballet Cat does not support multiple voice tasks simultaneously and can only complete one task at a time.
For remote functions, the Euler Ballet Cat can establish intercommunication between the vehicle and the smartphone through the official APP, allowing users to remotely unlock the car, start the engine, turn on the air conditioning, control the flashing light and horn, find the car and perform vehicle condition checks and other functions.
It is worth mentioning that the Euler Ballet Cat also provides a driver detection system, which can achieve distracted driving detection, fatigue detection, and screen-off detection through the A-pillar camera and central camera. It can also detect small actions such as yawning and turning the head to remind the driver.
Application Ecology
Looking beyond the surface, we will find that to achieve a truly intelligent cabin, it is not just relying solely on the car system but also integrating a richer application ecology. After all, without enough application ecology, the system itself does not have much value, which is similar to the current IT industry.
To be honest, I originally thought the Euler Ballet Cat would score 0 in this aspect, but after experiencing it thoroughly, I realized that I was the “silly one”.
The Baoli Cat does not offer an app store like other car models (eliminating unnecessary installation processes), but instead directly embeds various apps into the system.
Furthermore, the quantity is not small, and apps such as iQiyi, QQ Music, and Himalaya are all equipped. At the same time, whether it is QQ Music or other third-party apps, they have adapted to the UI of the Baoli Cat’s car system, so there is no abrupt feeling of UI mutation when using it.
However, in terms of entertainment functions, the Euler Baoli Cat appears to be average. The app store only provides Douyin, AIQuting, Pocket Story, and Selfie Magic Mirror, and does not support gaming apps.
Worth mentioning is that this selfie magic mirror also supports various functions such as skin smoothing and big eyes, truly capturing the hearts of young girls.
However, the good aspect is that the Euler Baoli Cat provides various driving modes, such as the “Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves Mode,” which can automatically turn on the hazard warning lights and fog lights on rainy days, switch the air conditioning to external circulation, and adjust the ACC distance to the maximum.
In the “Warm-hearted Mode”, the vehicle will turn on features such as interior warm air, heated steering wheel, and heated seats to quickly warm up the interior.
And in the “Child-mode”, the multimedia system will automatically play children’s songs, the car doors will automatically lock, the interior air conditioning will automatically adjust to the pre-set temperature, and the in-car camera will display the image on the central control screen, allowing mothers to see the status of their children in the car without turning back, making it safer.
In conclusion,
The appearance of the Baoli Cat allows us to see a product that is developed and positioned from the perspective of female consumers, making it a unique and remarkable product in the automotive industry.
Returning to the ballet cat’s car system, it is equally thoughtful for female users. The actual experience, whether it is the logic of the car system, the smoothness of the response or the accuracy of voice interaction, has reached an excellent level of the same level. I believe that after continuous optimization through OTA upgrades in the future, this car system will bring us even more stunning performance.
