Why Should I Buy?

I submitted my first new energy car model 3 on June 28, 2020, and the handling of this car can be said to be perfect. Due to the high frequency of departures and the economic income declining in recent years, the cost has risen, so I thought of replacing it with a pure electric business car. By chance, I saw the advertisement of the first pure electric MPV of Voyah Global on Douyin. With the attitude of giving it a try, I filled out a form and received a call from the customer service the next day. Although it was not in mass production at that time, the same brand had a FREE model, so I let them come to my door and test drive it. My feeling was that the acceleration was smooth and the vision was good. Later being persuaded by the salesperson, I placed an order and paid a subscription fee of 5,000 yuan (originally reluctant to pay, only because the salesperson said that this money can be refunded at any time, and if he fails to do so, he will compensate me).

There is no specific reason for the initial assumption, just wanting to be more economical as pure electric vehicles can save much more than oil-based vehicles (especially with the recent increase in oil prices).

Problems Encountered in Reservation

I made my first reservation on April 7, 2022, at 20:46, with a pre-sale price of 666,600 yuan. Actually, I still felt a bit hesitant as it was a bit expensive. In the end, I couldn’t get past my inner struggle and canceled it on April 10, 2022. When the press conference came out, the price was 489,900 yuan, so I decisively placed an order again – pure electric long-endurance dark purple body with brown interior; there was a privilege at that time, so the car price after discount should have been 469,900 yuan!

Delivery Time

At the time of subscription, the salesperson told me that it would be delivered around December. Around November 3, they told me that there was a pure electric long-endurance car, but it was black, and invited me to come and see the car. After all, it was not the car I ordered, and I didn’t have much motivation to go and see it. On November 7, I made an appointment with a friend to play in Jinan. We happened to be near the Voyah Jinan delivery center, so we went there to check it out. By the time we got there, it was already after three o’clock in the afternoon. Because we were in the showroom, there was no difference between the dark purple and black colors, and I couldn’t feel the beauty of it. With my friend’s persuasion, saying that black is atmospheric, high-end, and business-oriented, I compromised…so we began to negotiate conditions, what preferential policies, benefits, and guarantees there were… (I found that human nature is greedy.) There is also a little story here, which is that this car was originally subscribed by another customer, but because of the “mask” issue, it was blocked and the Voyah headquarters requested the delivery deadline, so I deliberately made a fuss about it and got some privileges!## IV. Pick-up benefits

Benefit 1: Price issue. As long as a car is transferred (meaning updated vehicle), you can get a discount of 10,000 yuan. 36.99-1= 35.99 million yuan.

Benefit 2: A wireless car vacuum cleaner is given as a gift.

Benefit 3: A full-car cover from Yalong is given as a gift.

Benefit 4: 3M full-car sun film is given as a gift.

Benefit 5: A 3.6KW electric gun is given as a gift.

Benefit 6: A portable air purifier is given as a gift.

Benefit 7: A car microphone set (2 pieces) is given as a gift.

Other benefits (common): Prediction service, charging pile and installation, road rescue, car entertainment data, triple-lifetime warranty for electric cars, lifetime quality assurance for the cars… The most important thing is that I specifically asked for a rear seat display again (this benefit can only be enjoyed once…)

V. Price issue

The invoice price is 459,900 yuan, and there is still room for further discounts. However, you need to pick up the car from another city (I heard it from a friend. Therefore, friends who want to save money can investigate further).

Here, it needs to be mentioned that I paid a 5,000 yuan deposit, and then applied for Citic Bank’s installment payment, paying 50% of the down payment at the beginning, and paying the rest after one year; so the down payment is 22,995-0.5= 22.495 million yuan. After one year, the remaining 22,995 million yuan is to be paid. There is no handling fee or interest rate during this period. Personally speaking, I think it is still reasonable.

Finally, the delivery date was November 10th, at the Voyah Delivery Center on Jingshi West Road, Jinan (also Jinan’s new energy vehicle delivery center). On November 11th, I spent a hundred and ten yuan processing fees to get the license plate number- Lu AD12833 (I think this is still a good license plate number after all, since the five-digit number is all digits).

It is worth mentioning that the temporary license plate was handled by a staff member named Ning Mengmeng from the Jinan delivery center. Due to the mask reasons at that time, there were not too many people, and the procedures were not operated by us, so the process was completed quickly. The next day, I went to Laiwu to select a license plate (it would be more perfect if Voyah could help to arrange the license plate selection).

There were no taxes or fees during the period, but a tax payment certificate is required!

The insurance cost is worth mentioning. At the beginning, I asked several insurance companies, and the quotations were all more than 3,000 yuan. I thought I misheard it. I don’t know why the insurance premiums for this car are so low! The premium for my Range Rover is more than 7,000 yuan per year, which creates a clear contrast.

VI. Vehicle operating costs

Electricity saving

As of yesterday, my car has driven 9999 kilometers. I roughly calculated it. According to the energy consumption data provided by Voyah, my car should be 28 kwh/100 km, which means 10,000 km are 2800 kWh. If it is calculated at 0.9 yuan/kWh, it should be 2520 yuan. Assuming that my Land Rover costs about 1 yuan per kilometer, that’s 10,000 yuan, which is more than 75% savings. If you charge at home, the cost may be between 0.3-0.6 yuan, which significantly decreases the cost. Looking solely at the electricity and fuel consumption index, it should be no problem to save 80%.## 2. Maintenance

If it’s the first maintenance service, it should be free of charge. But for the following maintenance services, my Land Rover costs around 3000 RMB, including oil change and filter replacements, while my Dream Maker only needs to replace the air filter (after all it’s an EV), which only costs around 100 RMB. This saves a lot of money!

7. Driving experience – Exterior

The exterior lines are very sleek and the design is very distinctive. The logo on the front grille has high recognition, which is both eye-catching and unique. (Compared to other cars, I quite like its atmospheric and low-key style)

8. Driving experience – Interior

The overall color of the interior is warm and gives a comfortable feeling. The seat material is also very soft, and the rear seats are relatively simple but spacious.

The stitching is neat, and you can’t see the ends of the threads at all, which shows great attention to detail!

9. Driving experience – Power

It accelerates smoothly with abundant power, and the brake is also in line with daily driving habits. After several of my friends drove it, they all agreed that it’s better than some other cars (I also have another car myself). I personally think that, for such a huge vehicle, it can perform almost perfectly, which I really like. It’s worth mentioning that State-owned enterprises are always trustworthy!

10. Driving experience – Space

The overall space is relatively spacious, whether it’s for business or with children at home. It never feels crowded.

Sometimes when my child gets restless, he would want to snuggle up to my wife in the second row. And because of the ample space, both my child and my wife don’t feel cramped or uncomfortable!

The trunk is really unexpectedly large. Although the size may not be apparent in the photos, all the luggage of my family of seven can fit in it every time we return to my hometown!

The storage space of the second row of the car is also relatively strong. For example, both sides of the car door can be stored, there is also an oversized drawer in the middle, and even the central armrest between driver and passenger seats is quite deep.# 11. Driving Experience

This car has plenty of power, stable chassis, and good control. It accelerates quickly without feeling heavy, especially with the flat steering wheel underneath, making it feel more agile and easier to handle.

12. Range

The seasons in Shandong are particularly distinct!

I picked up the car in November, when it was -10°C. The full battery displayed 360km, but as soon as I turned on the heater, it dropped to 310km. However, I actually drove 320km without any false battery display.

Now the weather is not bad, and the display shows 460km with a full battery. (Today’s temperature is 14°C). I would be satisfied if there is no illusion of battery life.

However, as a business car, it is important to know the purpose of buying a car. For example, I need to save time when I travel, so I still hope the range can be longer!

13. Intelligent Features

Intelligence can be discussed from several aspects:

Voice system – It is said to be the voice of iFlytek (industry leader). Its recognition rate is high, but the interaction with the car system is slightly weak. For example, when switching driving modes, it will prompt that it cannot be operated.
Air purifier – This feature is great for people with rhinitis. If there is a strange smell, the car system will remind you to turn on the purifier. It purifies the air quickly.
Fragrance system – This feature is great for people who like fragrances. In the future, I plan to change the types of scents used to adjust mood, such as refreshing and helping sleep.
Autonomous driving – Because somebody is driving the car, this feature is almost only used for lane keeping and cruise control.

14. Seats

The seats are large and provide a sense of safety and comfort, which is great for people with large physiques and will not make them feel tired.

15. Service

Nowadays, new car companies are paying more attention to improving service. However, compared with the services of other car companies, I have to mention that Voyah is really attentive.

Voyah has a point rule. Everyone in the group can collect points by offering suggestions, even 0 points or 4 points. However, after a few days, the point rule was changed, which surprised us all.

Also, there is a group of 11 people, including myself, all of whom are Voyah staff serving me. The service response time must be praised! Most of the time, I send messages to them for inquiries after 10 pm, and they will start helping me after 8 am the next morning. If no one speaks in the group, the customer service (group leader) will @ the relevant personnel. They are really attentive. All service industries can learn from them!# 16. What I am most satisfied with

Comfortable driving and riding experience

Whether you are driving or riding, you are just so comfortable! Before buying the car, I was worried that I might get carsick when sitting in the second row. However, I found out after riding it that this worry was unnecessary. I guess the executives at Voyah probably also realized this point. Smooth acceleration, ample power, and comfortable riding are all taken into consideration. It’s hard to imagine how cars like the Tesla Model S, which can go from 0 to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds (I would never dare to sit in the back seat of a Tesla), manage to prevent back-seat passengers from getting carsick…

Diverse driving modes

Because I have a Land Rover, I understand the importance of driving modes. However, I can’t understand why a business car like this one needs so many driving modes. Nevertheless, I really like several of them.

Comfortable mode – smoother acceleration, I often use this one
Economic mode – energy recuperation is more obvious, energy-saving is the first priority
High-energy mode – the chassis is lowered, making high-speed driving more stable
Outing mode – the chassis is raised, suitable for complicated terrains (I often switch to this mode when encountering bad roads)
Snow mode – I haven’t used this one yet
Custom – you can DIY acceleration, energy recuperation, chassis, and other parameters

Chassis tuning

Perhaps it’s because the chassis is equipped with pneumatic suspension (like Land Rovers), but even on a bumpy road, it’s very comfortable. Even when turning, there’s no tilting sensation like in an ordinary business car.

Smell

This should be the most satisfying aspect. New cars usually need to be sunbathed to remove odors, and even a few years later, they may still have odors. However, the DreamCar doesn’t have this problem. They really put their heart into it! The workmanship inside is really admirable for a state-owned enterprise!

17. What I am least satisfied with

Battery capacity

Now, the DreamCar is equipped with batteries of around 100. I feel a bit embarrassed about this, after all, MPVs are business cars that carry many people and things, and even when they have dual motors (4WD), they still need a large battery! However, due to the technical ratio between battery capacity and weight, most MPVs choose batteries of around 100-150. I think it’s a technical problem that causes this. I really look forward to the advancement of battery technology, so that a car traveling 1000 kilometers on one charge is no longer just a dream!

Charging efficiency

I have to criticize Voyah for this! This is also the aspect that I cannot accept. The power of the home charger is only 10 kW, and the fast charger is only 80 kW. Currently, domestic chargers are usually 11 kW or 21 kW, and the fast chargers provided by the State Grid are usually 120 kW or higher. If the power of the car charger can reach the efficiency of the charging station, then even if the battery capacity is a bit smaller, the waiting time for charging will not be too long, which would be acceptable.3. Front Trunk

As a pure electric commercial vehicle without an engine or a generator, I feel like there is a lot of space that can be utilized in the front trunk. If it is not utilized, it will be a waste. Although the storage space in this vehicle is already quite large, I still hope it can be even bigger (maybe I am just an unsatisfied person). However, from another perspective, if the front trunk is empty, the safety will be reduced, so it’s better to keep it this way. After all, safety comes first!

Bluetooth Key

After using XPeng Motors’ Bluetooth key, I feel like the Voyahomengxiang’s Bluetooth key is too sluggish! I don’t know if it’s because of the compatibility with the phone or the problem with the car’s software. I have tried to connect the Bluetooth of Huawei Mate X2, Huawei Mate 30 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max with the car’s Bluetooth, but all failed! I personally feel that this may be caused by the car’s system. If new energy vehicles cannot truly realize intelligence, I always feel that they are not good enough!

Car Internet Data

Voyahomengxiang’s car internet data is only 10GB per month. If there is a OTA update for the car system in that month, it’s obviously not enough! I encountered this situation once in February, and when the car internet data was used up, all of the car’s network functions, including the voice assistant, were not available. I feel that this design logic has a serious problem because it causes the smart system to get stuck due to network issues, which seriously affects the customer experience! Of course, fortunately, a data package is now available on the online shop, and points can also be exchanged for data. Maybe the technical experts realized this problem.
