Smart driving challenges Chengdu rush hour, SmartEgo makes debut at Chengdu Auto Show.

On August 29, 2021, the first day of the Chengdu Auto Show, the luxury smart electric sedan L7, luxury smart electric SUV LS7, and the concept car Airo, which was jointly developed with British architect Thomas Heatherwick, made their debut in the Southwest region at the H 405 booth of IM Auto.

“Angel Wheel” nears its end

The last 800 seats for the first configuration of the IM L7 “Angel Wheel” version, priced at 408,800 yuan, will be available for booking. Combined with 2,200 seats during the Shanghai Auto Show in the first half of the year, the 3,000 “Angel Wheel” users are about to be filled. Similar to other brands’ “Founder” version, the IM L7 “Angel Wheel” version will provide users with an exclusive gift package of “Angel Wheel User Entitlements,” including free upgrading of laser radar and Orin chips, to feedback the user data dividend, including intelligent driving data, to the user.

Assisted driving during Chengdu West Third Ring Road evening peak-hour

For the demonstration of assisted driving, IM Auto released a road test video of the “Intelligent Driving Challenge in Rongcheng’s Evening Peak” at the Chengdu Auto Show. The IM Auto IM AD intelligent driving system faced various complex road conditions and scenarios such as merging on the on-ramp, smart following in congested traffic, encountering close-range cut-ins, driving on large curvature U-shaped bends, and identifying obstacles merging onto the main road in the congested western and northern second ring roads of Rongcheng during evening peak.

For example, when encountering a close-range cut-in by a left-turning vehicle without a turn signal, the vehicle can accurately identify the actions of the preceding vehicle, decelerate in advance, and slightly turn the steering wheel to the right to avoid the intrusion and proceed to drive in the middle of the lane. This personification driving control ability is an important step for assisted driving to gain trust and reach the ultimate goal of autonomous driving.

IM’s original “Trust Enhancement Experience” allows the driver to monitor the intelligent driving’s visualized screen more intuitively, reducing the risk factor of sudden takeovers.

Performance

As a luxury sedan with a length of about 5.1 meters, the IM L7 has the strength of a German million-dollar luxury car in terms of performance.

Recently, the IM L7 has just obtained the authoritative certification of “ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.21” from China Automobile Research Institute, stepping into the top three global mass-produced cars. It is reported that the subsequent single-motor models will have super-economy mode, with a range exceeding 700 km.

The four-wheel-drive version has a power output of up to 400 kW/700 N·m and an acceleration time of only 3.9 seconds per 100 kilometers. The Brembo front opposing four-piston calipers and Pirelli P ZERO high-performance tires, the lightweight front double-arm/rear five-link independent suspension chassis tuned by Williams F1’s derived vehicle engineering company WAE, which is on par with top high-performance cars such as the BMW M5, and the four-wheel steering capability are all the skill points that L7 achieves a surprise attack.
