Chengdu Auto Show: SAIC Volkswagen unveils its brand new electric vehicle ID.3 and starts pre-orders!

On August 29th, the media day of Chengdu Auto Show, SAIC Volkswagen unveiled its new all-electric ID.3 and started taking pre-orders!

Exterior and Interior

The new vehicle’s exterior design is basically the same as the overseas version, and five body colors are offered: Aurora Green, Cyber Yellow, Supersonic Red, Ion Grey, and Crystal White.

The upper grille adopts a closed design, with horizontal light strips running through the LED headlights on both sides; the Beauty eyes headlights enhance interaction with the driver; the lower grille’s horizontally slotted design extends the proportion of the front of the car and stretches the visual width; the bumper’s outer edge features a unique relief design.

The dimensions of the ID.3’s body are 4,261 mm in length, 1,778 mm in width, and 1,568 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm.

The design of the C-pillar reminds me of the Golf, with its robustness and particle-like pattern decoration.

The ID.3’s interior uses lightweight design principles, with design elements in each functional area further refined to create a more layered and structured layout. It also features a 10-inch central touch screen with E3 architecture, as well as AR HUD.

Hardware Information

The ID.3 unveiled this time uses a 57.3 kWh ternary lithium-ion power battery with a range of up to 430 km.

Based on the MEB platform, the ID.3 has the same characteristics as the other ID siblings: long wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs. MEB sets fixed positions and modes for core components such as battery packs and motors. The battery is embedded in the bottom of the car, with the wheel module and transmission system module located far apart, giving the car a long wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs.

Thanks to the various layout advantages of the MEB pure electric platform, the ID.3 has a front-to-rear weight ratio of 50:50. At the same time, the ID.3 is also the only rear-wheel-drive model in its class!

ID.3 is now available for pre-order at the Chengdu Auto Show. During the pre-order phase, customers only need to pay a deposit of 300 yuan to enjoy a 300 yuan discount on the purchase price of 3000 yuan.
